Burgundy Floral Scarf

Burgundy Floral Scarf

The inspiration for this item is the Carpet with Floral Pattern (Mughal North India, c. middle of the seventeenth century). The magnificent Floral Carpet is a rare example of supreme craftsmanship from the imperial workshops of seventeenth century northern India. Since the Mughal artists did not consider botanical accuracy to be a priority, the flowers that are depicted in the carpet and serve as inspiration for this item must be considered to be objects of fantasy.

Henry Clay Frick purchased the Carpet with Floral Pattern in 1918.

Designed and Manufactured by Cedric Brochier Soieries, Lyon, France.
