On October 18, 2004, The Frick Collection hosted its annual Autumn Dinner, raising nearly $400,000 for the Collection and Library.

More than two hundred guests gathered for cocktails on the Fifth Avenue Terrace, followed by dinner in the Garden Court and Oval Room.

The author Robert Hughes was honored for his contribution to the arts as a writer and historian.

In his talk “Why The Frick Matters,” he delighted guests with his insightful and lively personal account of the social and cultural significance of collecting and the Frick’s place in that world.
